Jennifer Tilly's birth occurred in Los Angeles, California on September 16, 1958. The birth circumstances were deplorable. Her father was a car salesman, and her mother was a teacher. Jennifer is the third of the four children in her family often accompanied her mother to performances in the theater and was much impressed by her. Jennifer's parents split at the age of five. Jennifer was raised in British Columbia by her mother and moved in with her four siblings. Jennifer did not have an excellent education, despite being an extremely artistic child. The time she spent in Canadian schools resulted in her becoming often the target of bullying. She began to lose interest in the theater during the time she was in high school. The mother of her child encouraged her to participate in additional roles in different plays. The influence of her mother was to motivate all kids in her family to develop a passion for and interest in the performing arts. She then immediately started acting.
